MVCC Annual Stakeholder Meeting & Reception. Ever wonder what it is that we do? So do I. Come get those nagging questions answered at the MVCC Annual Stakeholder Meeting on July 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The annual meeting will be preceded by a reception open to the community. Come share an evening with your neighbors.
Photographic Exhibit. Councilmember Bill Rosendahl proudly invites you to enjoy an evening with Mar Vista based photographer Stephen Boskin at the West L.A. Municipal building [1645 Corinth Avenue, 90025] on July 14 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Stephen has traveled many miles documenting everything from the mundane to the extraordinary with equal passion, whether a desert plain, architecture, wildlife or the landscapes they inhabit. It will be a magical evening!
405 Freeway Closure, a/k/a “Carmeggedon.” No, it’s not the latest blockbuster from director Steven Spielberg, but it is the billion dollar traffic snarl of the summer. Beginning in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 16 and continuing through the weekend, the 405 freeway, also known affectionately as America's Parking Lot, will be closed to all traffic between the I-10 and I-110 interchanges. We recommend you plan accordingly. Officials are confident that first responders and other emergency services will not be impacted. Of course, these are the same people who decided to close the 405. God speed, Angelinos!
Mark Your Calendar NOW. The annual Mar Vista Fall Festival will be held on October 15. The theme of this year’s celebration will be “Our Children, Our Future”. There will be activities for children of all ages. Not to be missed.
The Best Farmers’ Market in LA. Come visit the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market, Venice Blvd. @ Grand View, on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm. Join us every week for fresh organic California produce, delicious prepared foods, and music.
