Draft II - April 26, 2005
1) The location must have a sponsor. That is a stakeholder that will be responsible for tending to the speed trailer. Daily activities include, but are not limited to: a) Checking for graffiti or damage and reporting problems to the police or MVCC, b) Verifying the system is working, and c) General cleanup of the trailer. Sponsors shall be MVCC Stakeholders and shall apply to the MVCC Transportation and Infrastructure Committee indicating their name, address, phone number, etc., and their objectives for the speed trailer.
2) The location must be secure. That is there should be a facility to lock the trailer so that it can’t be removed and electricity nearby so that it may be powered. The trailer has solar panels, but they are not strong enough to sustain a charge for a more that a day or two. For a week-long deployment or more it must be plugged in. There is data gathering capability and we don’t want to lose the collected data.
3) The location must be on the sponsor’s property. That is the City of Los Angeles property or other public property cannot be used for the speed trailer, until the vehicle obtains a license plate. At present it does not have a license plate.
4) The sponsor may have to proved transportation of the speed trailer. That is MVCC does not have a vehicle assigned to it, nor does it have the capability to tow the trailer from one location to another. Therefore the sponsor might have to arrange transportation. Note: If the trailer is being moved during daylight hours, lights are not required.
5) The deployment will be limited to _______ days(s). Unless otherwise provided, the speed trailer will be located at the site for a limited period of time. This permits other stakeholders to deploy the trailer and data can be obtained from multiple sites.
